Why be froth'd?

My daily experience with matcha is one of intentionality and a chance to reconnect with myself. Each action is purposeful and deliberate. Matcha gives me meaning. Its consumption has deep roots in Japanese culture. It's flavours embody nuance and mystery. It's effect on the body and mind is powerful and regenerative. I wanted to find the best matcha. I knew it was out there. I just had to look for it. This was all before Froth'd was born. Over a decade ago, I was meandering the busy streets of Tokyo. Nestled away beneath the skyscrapers, yet embedded within the metropolis itself was a humble tea house surrounded by lush gardens filled with ancient bonsai, a burbling stream and the chitter of tiny birds as light as the air around them. A short distance away was a Shinto shrine. The tea house was the site of my first Japanese tea ceremony. A place where time melts into the surroundings and the consumption of a single chawan of matcha symbolises harmony, respect, purity and tranquility - the way of tea. Historically, matcha of this quality was reserved for nobility and royalty. This certainly speaks volumes of its qualities. Japan's rich cultural history of matcha cultivation, preparation and consumption lured me in, while the transcendent flavours ensnared me. Founded in 2024, Froth'd is the culmination of an obsession with my morning matcha ritual and a desire to share my love for it with others. It's pretty simple, really. I reconnected with matcha for the health benefits, but a chance encounter with a passionate sommelier in a tea house in Amsterdam changed my understanding of matcha. I had no idea it could be so smooth and creamy for a drink made from leaves and water! When I returned to Australia, after I consumed what matcha I brought back with me, it took me a long time to find even decent matcha to drink traditionally - with hot water only. I encountered many companies that sold great matcha, but it was hidden amongst many grades and names and a lot of other fluff. All I wanted was one product and I wanted the best of it. I drink matcha daily in almost biblical quantities. So, I turned my search to matcha's Japanese roots to satisfy my desire for that quintessential jade nectar. I have tasted many a matcha blend from across Kyoto and this is where we ended up. I just feel privileged to bring you the matcha I partake; Tengoku. This is my mountain peak.
